The way I see it, not buying flowers because they don't last forever is like saying you shouldn't ...

• plan a honeymoon - it's so expensive for just a few weeks alone
  
• treat yourself to the opera - the memory will fade
  
• make new friends - they could move away
  
• watch the Super Bowl - it's over in a couple of hours
  
• order birthday cake - it gets eaten
  
• buy special clothes for a newborn - babies grow so quickly
  
• blow up balloons - they deflate
  
• watch a shooting star - it's here one minute, gone the next

As with many of these, you simply can't quantify the feelings that come from giving and receiving flowers - no matter how long they last. What's more, flowers are a perfect gift. I can't remember the last time I was disappointed when someone gave me flowers. Can you??
